Internal Blower Assembly
| What it is | The whole motor-and-wheel package mounted inside the hood itself. |

| Where it sits | Bolted into the canopy itself, above the filters |
| How it fails | Loud in the room, or weak once the duct run is long |
| Checked with | Airflow at the filters, then noise with the filters out |

Where the whole assembly sits
Lift the filters out and the assembly is directly above you: a housing with the motor on one side and the wheel inside it, bolted to the top of the canopy and discharging straight into the transition. Everything that can fail in the air-moving half of the system is within arm’s reach of a step-ladder — motor, wheel, capacitor where one is fitted, and the wiring between them and the control strip. That is the argument for this layout, and on a short duct run it is a strong one.
Loud in the room, simple to reach
The trade-off is sound. A motor running a few feet above the cooktop puts its noise into the kitchen, and on the top setting that is what people notice against a unit sited further away. Noise that has changed, though, is different from noise that was always there. A new rasp, a beat that rises and falls, or a hum with no air behind it are all faults, and they are diagnosed the same way at any blower position: power at the motor first, then the wheel by hand.
When moving it out of the hood is worth it
There is a point where an internal unit is being asked to do too much. A kitchen opened into one room, the hood moved to an island, a run that now climbs into the roof and turns twice before it reaches daylight — the blower can be perfectly healthy and the cooktop still fills with steam. That is a duct question, not a motor question, and it is worth settling before any part is ordered. Wolf Repair Los Angeles measures at the filters and works back: (310) 626-4008.
What putting it right costs
This one has no published band. Wolf Repair Los Angeles puts a figure on it after the diagnosis, as one number covering the part and the labour, and nothing is ordered until you have agreed it — (310) 626-4008.
A flat $89 buys the call-out and a full diagnosis, and that $89 is deducted from the repair once you have approved it.
Follow-ups
Is an internal blower worse than a remote one?
Not worse, different. Everything that makes noise is in the room with you, which matters most at the top speed. Against that, the assembly is the easiest of the three to reach, so the diagnosis and the work happen in the kitchen rather than in an attic or outside the house.
Can an internal blower be swapped for a quieter remote unit?
Sometimes, and it is a bigger job than it sounds. The duct has to suit the new position, there has to be somewhere sound outside or in the roof to carry the unit, and the control wiring changes with it. Wolf Repair Los Angeles can tell you on the $89 visit whether the existing run would take it.
